Post Thanksgiving Musings

Great Dane puppy resting in front of fireplaceThis post was written in “first dog” by Meshach the Great Dane puppy.

This was my first Thanksgiving and I can honestly say it wasn’t a whole lot different for me than a normal weekend day, woof! Why? Well bepaws for one thing I eat RAW turkey already. Secondly bepaws I wasn’t given any of the human holiday food that could potentially land me at the animal hospital suffering from acute pancreatitis. When Mom worked in vet medicine they saw lots of incidences of that during the holidays. I avoided that mishap bepaws I am never fed anything but raw meat, bones and organs! Even my treats are pure, dehydrated raw ALL meat treats – no additives, nothing but dehydrated meat or organs.

WHEW, I’m glad my humans understand that we dogs are carnivores so they don’t give me all those nasty wheat-laden products that are not only REALLY bad for us carnivores but as it turns out not so very good for humans either: The Dark Side of Wheat: New Perspectives on Celiac Disease and Wheat Intolerance

Mom and Dad ate their usual holiday fare and seemed to enjoy it. I ate cornish hen, YUM – and yes it was RAW of course! I’m also REALLY glad that I don’t have to eat that processed junk in a bag or can like so many canines do. Now there is ANOTHER recall and did you know that only ONE company owns MOST of the pet food brands? Yup: 6 Secret Monopolies You Didn’t Know Run the World

Mom took me on a nice LONG walk with our neighbor Amy and her two black Labs, Charlie and Zeus. Charlie is young like me and Zeus is older. I had a lot of fun chasing, biting and pulling his tail. We ran, and ran, and ran. But Charlie ran a LOT more than me – he is after all a Lab, woof! Mom apologizes that she just plumb forgot to take video and photos of our excursion. Just as we were about to end our walk and go home, along came two small Am Staff GIRL dogs, woof! I was REAL happy to play and wrestle with them. Charlie and Zeus seemed rather surprised to see how fast and strong these little dogs were – and maybe even a bit envious of their speed. I was VERY impressed myself and had a LOT of fun with them.

They loved everyone – human and dog, especially ME! One of them put me on my back in a Ninja move I can only dream of doing. VERY impressive. My Mom was in heaven having all these dogs around and so was I. It was the BEST part of the holiday for me. I got fresh air, sunshine, great nutrition, EXERCISE, and made new friends. It was a pawsome holiday for me!

Mom and Dad were happy bepaws I was so tired I just mostly slept all day after that long, fun walk and playtime. I ate my food and they ate theirs. I got no pie, no leftovers, no gravy – nothing but my good and healthy RMBs!

I managed to incorporate ALL the laws of health into ONE day. So I was VERY thankful on this Thanksgiving day.

Maybe next time Mom will remember to videotape us, woof! Great Dane Meetup is coming this week so she better have the video going, woof!

I’ll be back soon with more adventures, AND sharing more of my naturally reared friends and family!

Have a pawsitively tail waggin’, NATUROPATHICALLY healthy day, woof!
