Naturally Reared DogsRecently we had a discussion going on in our private study group on FB for our student body at the American Council of Animal Naturopathy. It was all about what to do to support a dog that was ailing and was/is the raw diet appropriate or enough when they are elderly or very immune challenged.

Rather than go over that in detail here again as I’ve done since 2004 (nope many of those posts are no longer here since I’ve moved hosting a number of times and deleted things) I’m going to provide several very good resources for you so can learn it yourself and decide.

1. For those of you considering raising dogs, my friend, colleague, business partner Dr. Jeannie Thomason has written an excellent book on that very thing, entitled Natural Rearing: Breeding and Raising Dogs the Way Nature Intended. She doesn’t just cover nutrition but everything in between as well as all that goes into breeding naturally as opposed to conventional rearing and breeding. Available only in print at the time of this post.

2. A brand new book by one of our graduates, Kristin Clark (publisher of Raw Pet Digest), entitled Let Food Be Their Medicine: Using Nature’s Principles to Help Your Dog Thrive is an excellent book, especially for those just starting on their raw feeding journey and don’t know where to begin or are confused by all of the conflicting information provided. Available in both print and on Kindle.Let Food Be Their Medicine

3. Another book excellent book is The Inner Carnivore, by another of our graduates, Jennifer Lee. This book is stellar! She is an experienced raw feeder who has been naturally rearing English Mastiffs for some time now.

4. For those of you who also prefer to have some audio and video support, we have a great new class available specifically for the dog lover who desires a more excellent way of caring for your dog available, Holistic Wellness for Dogs. Dr. Jeannie and I combine our years and experience in consulting with clients into this class to help empower dog owners to be proactive in the care of their dogs.

After reading the above books and/or taking our class, any confusion or complication that is hindering you ought to be utter dispelled.

Now that you have the resources, nothing can stop you from having happy, healthy dogs!
