Essential Oils for Dogs

Essential Oils Harmonize

Lesson 11 Chapter 4

Now onto the nose again bepaws the Nose Knows!

The sense of smell is the only one of the five senses directly linked to the limbic lobe of the brain, the emotional control center. Anxiety, depression, fear, anger, and joy all emanate from this region. The scent of a special fragrance can evoke memories and emotions before we are even consciously aware of it. Where smells are concerned, we react first and think later. All other senses (touch, taste, hearing, and sight) are routed through the thalamus, which acts as the switchboard for the brain, passing stimuli onto the cerebral cortex (the conscious thought center) and other parts of the brain.” ~D. Gary Young, Founder of Young Living Essential Oils

Humans, you don't want to inundate us with scent in a forceful way or you can make us NOT like the oils as a result. That would not be a good thing. My Mom always let me smell but never forced me.

Diffusing the oils is one of those "can't really go wrong" choices with us dogs. You want to make it a good experience always even if the situation itself isn't good, you want to make oils use a comforting and comfortable time for us. By diffusing while allowing the opportunity for us to leave the room if we want, that is helpful. I never had that issue but some dogs do. Like Schatzie, Mom's girl dog. She is more sensitive than all of us boys have been. Maybe bepaws she was older when she came to us. Maybe bepaws she had a lot more toxins. So Mom has eased her into the use two ways:

1. By diffusing in the evenings as she joins her for their "chill out" time.

2. Whenever she applies oils to her they are always diluted with carrier oil and also very minimal. When she has needed extra support Schatzie has been very receptive. When that support waned so did her desire for application and then Mom backs off. Mom says the only oil sniffed from a bottle Schatzie has liked is manuka!

I always did a sniff, sniff, sniff three times on a huge variety of oils. But if I wasn't interested, well then I'd just turn my head away as I did in the video and let Mom know that wasn't the one I wanted at that time. I never made the snarly face with the oils like I did with the toxic products she used to use.

Heat will alter the chemistry, rendering them therapeutically useless.

Diffused oils don't just mask odors; they actually alter the structure of the molecules that create odors - so the odor is gone and any toxic air is also rendered harmless.  They also increase the available oxygen in the room and produce negative ions which is what our bodies need to be in harmony.

We balance our frequencies through the use of essential oils* bringing our entire being - spirit, mind and body - back into symphonic balance.
