Sometimes the most profound Kingdom lessons come wrapped in the most ordinary moments. This is the story of how a giant moth larva, a reactive dog, and one moment of choosing peace over chaos revealed the secret of nervous system mastery.

When Chaos Meets the Kingdom
Wednesday, September 17, 2025 started like any other day. My dog Ezra was outside doing whatever dogs do when left to their own devices – which, in his case, usually means finding something I’d prefer he didn’t.
This time, he’d discovered one of those massive moth larvae that show up in our yard annually. You know the ones – they look like giant tomato worms, green and grotesque, belonging to moths that buzz like bumblebees but are twice the size. Every year we hope Ezra doesn’t find them because he’ll eat them and end up with an upset stomach. This time, I wasn’t so fortunate.
When I spotted him, the damage was already done. The larva was oozing fluid, clearly wounded, and Ezra was in full primal mode – dropping it, eyeing me warily, then trying to reclaim his “prize.”
“No, leave it,” I commanded.
He obeyed… sort of. But then something shifted in his demeanor. His whole-body language transformed into what I can only describe as Tasmanian Devil mode – snarling, stalking, eyes locked on his catch while keeping me in his peripheral vision.

The Moment Everything Could Have Gone Wrong
Ezra positioned himself under our patio table, still in that predatory stance. I knew I needed to get him inside before this escalated, so I called him to me while keeping the patio door open.
He came… eventually… moving with deliberate slowness, a low growl, snarling, never taking his focus off the damaged larva. I could feel the tension radiating from his entire being – his nervous system locked in sympathetic overdrive, ready to fight for what he considered rightfully his.
When he finally reached me, I grabbed his collar. Thank goodness I did, because as I started to close the door while blocking his exit, he lunged.
The impact sent me slamming into the door frame, my head taking the brunt of it. In that split second, I faced a choice that would determine the outcome of this entire encounter.
The old Kim would have reacted with anger. Pain plus defiance equals escalation, right? That’s the human default – meet chaos with more chaos, react to aggression with aggression.
But in that moment, something different happened.

The Power of the Regulated Nervous System
This is where the Weird Animal Girl Prophecy begins to unfold…
Instead of letting the pain trigger my own fight-or-flight response, I made a conscious choice. I remained calm. Not a fake calm, not suppressed anger – genuinely peaceful despite the chaos swirling around me.
I held tight to Ezra’s collar, twisting it just enough to maintain control, step back inside behind the door frame, and shut the door. Then I did something that might seem counterintuitive – I ignored my own pain.
Not because it didn’t matter, but because I understood something about nervous system co-regulation that many people never learn: my state determines his state.
As I remained calm, something miraculous happened. Ezra’s entire demeanor shifted. The snarling stopped. The stalking posture relaxed. The Tasmanian Devil dissolved back into my dog.
I released his collar and said, “Go lie down.”
He obeyed immediately!

The Science Behind the Miracle
What happened in that patio doorway wasn’t good dog training by any stretch of the imagination (I know I need improvement in that area no doubt about it) – it was quantum entanglement and nervous system science in action.
Here’s what really occurred:
My vagus nerve – that crucial 10th cranial nerve connecting brainstem to body, responsible for regulating heart, lungs, kidneys, bowels, and essentially all abdominal organs – had a choice to make. It could shift into sympathetic dominance (fight/flight) in response to Ezra’s aggression and my physical pain (which was minimal rather quickly), or it could maintain parasympathetic regulation (rest/digest/heal).
I chose parasympathetic. I chose peace over chaos. My pain dissolved almost immediately as a result. And Ezra de-escalated simultaneously.
But here’s the profound part: dogs are designed to co-regulate with their humans. Over my 20+ years of working as an animal naturopath, I’ve discovered that nervous system dysfunction – manifesting as everything from liver disease to seizures to behavioral issues – often traces back to vagus nerve disruption. And what affects our vagus nerve inevitably affects theirs.
Ezra’s nervous system was quantumly entangled with mine, constantly reading and responding to my electromagnetic field, my biochemical state, my energetic frequency. When my vagus nerve maintained its peaceful state despite the external chaos, his nervous system received a different signal than he expected. Instead of meeting fight with fight, he encountered an authority that remained unshakeable in the midst of the storm.
This is the same principle I’ve seen with every dog I’ve loved: Shadrach’s “liver failure” that was actually vagus nerve compression from spinal misalignment. Meshach’s seizures. Schatzie’s behavioral transformation when her back went out of alignment similar to Shadrach’s. Even King’s CCL tear recovery through natural methods that support nervous system function. (Reference my in-depth article on the vagus nerve, linked above).
Result? Instant transformation from Tasmanian Devil to obedient dog – because healthy vagus nerve function creates the foundation for everything else.
The Weird Animal Girl Prophecy Revealed
Animals are not just our companions – they’re our teachers in nervous system mastery. They show us, in real time, what our internal state is actually producing in the world around us.

Ezra wasn’t being “bad” or “reactive” initially, he was reacting to what he’d encountered in me before in addition to being his usual “feral” self. His reaction this time, however, was a response to what his normal unregulated energy looks like when it encounters peaceful authority. He was showing me what happens when chaos meets the Kingdom.
This is the prophecy hidden in plain sight:
When the sons and daughters of God learn to remain in parasympathetic peace regardless of external circumstances, creation itself responds. The very animals we love begin to reflect back the frequency of Heaven rather than the frequency of earth’s chaos.
Romans 8:19-22 isn’t just poetic language – it’s nervous system science. Creation is literally waiting for the revealing of God’s children who have learned to carry Heaven’s frequency no matter what’s happening around them.
As Scripture reveals: “The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all the inner depths of his heart” (Proverbs 20:27). Our vagus nerve – that “intelligence” that Carl Armstrong (in his book on the vagus nerve) calls the “Compassion Portal“ – may indeed be the vehicle through which our spirit expresses itself and the Holy Spirit interacts with us.
When I remained calm with Ezra, I wasn’t just training a dog. I was operating as the lamp of the LORD, letting His peace flow through my nervous system into his. This is how creation gets set free – one regulated nervous system at a time vibrating in Heaven’s frequency.

The Practical Kingdom Application
After Ezra calmed down and obeyed, I went back outside and disposed of that gross larva (with a hoe, not my bare hands – I’m not THAT weird of an animal girl!) by tossing it over our wall into the field. The birds finished what Ezra had started, and order was restored.
But the real victory wasn’t in the cleanup. It was in the revelation of what becomes possible when we learn to regulate our nervous systems according to Kingdom principles rather than worldly reactions.
This applies to everything:
- Your anxious rescue dog
- Your reactive teenager
- Your stressed-out spouse
- Your overwhelming workplace
When you learn to maintain parasympathetic peace in the presence of sympathetic chaos, you become a tuning fork that helps everything around you remember its original design.
Living the Be Well Revolution
This is what “Be Well“ really means. Not just physical health, but nervous system wellness (even higher as soul wellness 3 John 1:2). Not just managing symptoms but transforming the energetic frequency from which we operate.

Your animals are waiting for you to discover this. They’re designed to thrive in the electromagnetic field of your regulated nervous system. When you learn to choose peace over reactivity, they don’t just obey – they flourish. Because then the atmosphere all around you responds!
Your family is waiting for this. Your workplace is waiting. Creation itself is groaning for this revelation.
The weird animal girl prophecy is actually an invitation: What if the key to healing our world starts with healing our nervous systems? What if the animals we love are showing us exactly how to carry Heaven’s frequency into earth’s chaos?
The Golden Thread

This story contains one of the golden threads that has woven through my entire life: Animals don’t need rescuing – humans do. When we learn to live from our true identity as sons and daughters of the Creator, everything around us begins to remember its song.
Ezra didn’t need more training that day. He needed to encounter someone who could remain peaceful in the presence of his chaos. He needed to experience what regulated nervous system authority feels like.
And so does your world.
The next time your animal (or human) goes into “Tasmanian Devil mode,” remember: your nervous system state is their invitation to either escalate or regulate. Your vagus nerve is either broadcasting chaos or peace.
Choose peace. Stay regulated. Watch creation respond.
This is how the Kingdom comes – one nervous system at a time.

HeartMath Institute Research on Electromagnetic Fields & Coherence:
The HeartMath Institute has conducted extensive research showing that the heart generates the largest electromagnetic field in the body – about 60 times greater in amplitude than brain waves – and this field can be detected several feet away from a person’s body. When individuals are in states of heart coherence (positive emotions), they radiate a more coherent electromagnetic signal that can be detected by nearby animals and other people’s nervous systems. Research shows that during sustained feelings of love or appreciation, diverse physiological systems entrain to the heart’s rhythm, and brain rhythms naturally synchronize to the heart’s rhythmic activity. The Social Heart: Energy Fields and Consciousness
Polyvagal Theory (Stephen Porges):
Polyvagal Theory, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, emphasizes the role of the autonomic nervous system – especially the vagus nerve – in regulating health and behavior. The theory describes how safety, co-regulation, and connection are fundamental to healthy human experience. Co-regulation is defined as the need to feel safe enough to allow oneself to be in relationships, with the social engagement system enabling mutual nervous system regulation between individuals. Human-Dog Nervous System Synchronization:
Multiple recent studies have found that heart rate variability (HRV) of dogs and their owners become interconnected during interaction, with significant co-modulation occurring during periods of rest and calm interaction. This physiological synchrony reflects shared emotional arousal and occurs only within established pairs – when dogs were randomly matched with non-owners, the synchronization disappeared. Research published in Advanced Science revealed that brain waves of dogs and humans align during friendly interactions through a phenomenon called interbrain coupling or neural synchrony, representing the first demonstration of cross-species neural synchronization.
