Unveiling the Profound Journey of Canine Redemption

This is my latest episode for the DOGgone Truth Podcast, From Neglect to Redemption: A Dane Sized Transformative Tale

A tale of redemption

As always there is an intersection of faith, personal growth, and life with dogs – and sometimes other animals too! We go on journeys together that intertwine the lives of humans and our beloved dogs, delving into their health, struggles, and triumphs. Every week it is always a blend of vulnerability, faith, and the enduring bond we have with our dogs.

In this one I share how I had some dreams about spotted Great Danes – not Harlequins, not Mantle Danes, but spotted ones. I touch on the profound symbolism of lions and Great Danes in Christianity, weave in references to biblical truth about the spotted Danes by referencing the story of Jacob and Laban. They preface the backdrop to my own experiences, with the hope of always giving you – the listeners and readers – a deeper understanding of the spiritual and emotional connection between humans and our animals.

The story this week focuses on a tale I’ve told before and is in my book, Animals Taught Me That about my Great Dane, Leben. This majestic dog’s journey was fraught with challenges, especially on my end with not only lack of knowledge, but financial and commitment shortfalls that resulted also in periods of neglect. Despite these obstacles, Leben proved to be exceptional, rising above adversity to showcase his true potential. Even if he never realized that with me, he managed through several changing of hands from one owner to the next, to prevail into his elderly years. I’ve never forgotten him and I believe that his primary problem as well was that he never forgot me. One day he and I will be reunited in eternity but without all the baggage!

Listeners of this episode, I believe, will be drawn into a world where love, perseverance, and the resilience of the canine spirit shine through. The narrative takes an emotional turn as circumstances change, leading to a decline in Leben’s care. I was very vulnerable and candid in telling this story although it was extremely difficult – however not more difficult than it had to have been for this precious boy. My own lack of responsibility and regret coupled however with the unwavering support from his breeder and another who stepped in to help was beneficial for me although it never brought Leben the life he truly deserved. I abdicated his responsibility and that led to him having a life wrought with trouble and challenges.

My hope as we go forward that by sharing these stories, I can create a safe space for introspection, growth, and healing for all of us. To be transparent and authentic, so in our mistakes, we help others avoid those same ones thereby saving these precious animals from being the collateral damage of those mistakes while serving as a reminder of the profound impact our actions have on the lives of our loyal companions. Whether you’re a dog lover, a seeker of redemption, or simply someone in search of heartfelt storytelling, my hope is that this episode and in fact the entire podcast promises to uplift, inspire, and remind us of the transformative power of love and compassion.

I invite you to tune in to the Doggone Truth Podcast and embark on a journey that celebrates the resilience of dogs, the depth of human emotion, and the unbreakable bond that unites us all.

thank you so much for your story. My first dog I followed the vets advice and she had chronic illness. by age 4 I started researching and stopped the shots. Her body was ruined by 4 years of shots, and damaged her for life. My next dog has no vaccines and is super healthy. I try to share the Natural Path with VitalAnimal.com We learn so much and try to share the natural path with other pet lovers and for ourselves. And the time we need to spend with our pets, as they just want to share a natural walk thru the woods, fields, beach, etc
