Canaan Dog or Carolina Dog?

Carolina Dog or Canaan Dog
Schatzie girl summer of 2013

A friend shared this on my timeline this month and I wanted to share it here with you all. First she shared an article and then a very beautiful and encouraging comment to me which totally made my day. The article is about the Canaan Dog which interestingly enough I’ve been looking into for a bit as they fascinate me thanks to Schatzie. Yes I thought she was a Carolina Dog but now I’m not certain….

Here is the article The Ancient Canaan Dog Will Steal Your Heart

WOW!

I am beginning to wonder if Schatzie were a Canaan dog after all. Its hard to say but I’m still leaning towards Carolina Dog. I’ll share a comparison chart below in this post also. I love both of the breeds. I’m so hoping to have a Canaan dog just because I SO enjoyed experiencing a more feral and ancient breed and would love to continue that journey.

Here is what my friend wrote to me along with sharing the article:

Hi Kim!! Hope you’re having a Dandy day. I found this article while doing some research on breed types and immediately thought of Schatzie. I’m so sorry for your loss but I expect her life will continue to inspire you to share your experiences and knowledge of the carnivore. You have helped so many people become inspired simply by how and what you share. It is God’s purpose for you I’m sure because you speak from the heart and that inspiration comes from the Spirit who dwells inside. Never change!” ~Melinda Minjares (she is a dog groomer – Dandy Dog Grooming – and one of our animal naturopathy students). This really encouraged me!

Here is the comparison charge between the Carolina Dog (Schatzie) and the Canaan Dog:

Tell me in the comments what you think about these two breeds and if I ought to run a contest on if you think Schatzie was a Canaan or a Carolina Dog!

That’s all for this time, so until next time…

Have a pawsitively tail waggin’, NATUROPATHICALLY healthy day!
