The Environment Matters

illegal dumping
Other people’s trash

This is today’s garbage off the streets and in the fields haul. It’s not like this every day but it could be if I walked in deeper into the fields. People prefer to illegally dump here rather than pay to drive out to the landfill and pay to dump…they seem to not think or care that the environment does matter.

I know, this is NOT a beautiful photo or a beautiful thing. It is trash that has been thrown out of car windows as well as from trash cans that blew over from our high winds, however the owners of said trash didn’t bother to pick it up. So here is my viewpoint on this as per my own choice in the matter:

1. I pick it up because I’m able.

2. I pick it up because I choose to do so.

3. Never grow weary of doing good. Galatians 6:9

So while it may seem like this is a pointless and fruitless endeavor, as long as I am able I will. As long as I live here I will. I can assure you that wherever I walk it has made a difference. I don’t do it for the kudos, it just needs doing so I do it. This is a daily thing I do…some days I don’t find any which is a big YAY even though I know it is SOMEWHERE.

I also know I’m not alone in doing this or it would be far worse.

Legislating it as illegal hasn’t made much difference unless by some chance the dumpers are caught, and then wow do they pay through mandatory community clean up as well as big fines – I am grateful for that because they often do not want to repeat that endeavor. Sadly though that is few and far between.

The law doesn’t make people do right, it only points out what they do wrong. I’m not saying there ought not be any laws, of course we need them – well some we don’t lol but that is another topic for another day.

The long and short of it all is, the human heart is what needs changing as that is the only way things improve. Not by the law but by the change of heart. I only know one way that happens.

Anyway, if you’re one of the ones who chooses to do this because you are able and want to, then thank you so much!

Oh and YES I do separate what can be recycled and that gets put in our recycle bins. Good thing trash pick up day is day after tomorrow because our trash bins are full already – primarily with other people’s trash!

Make today a great one ya’ll and if you can, are willing and able, please carry something to pick up trash with while you walk. It DOES make a difference.

PS even the plastic bin was out in the fields so I just used it to gather more trash. I always feel like that was Divine providence for me to be able to carry all the junk.

Until next time…

Have a PAWsitively, tail waggin’, NATUROPATHICALLY healthy day!
